Love it. Here are some extras that I love...

School Days - The Runaways
High school Lover - Air
Popular - Nada Surf
Underground - Ben Folds Five
The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun - Julie Brown

Wow, all great choices! That Air song is my favorite part of The Virgin Suicides, and I didn't even think of "Underground" as a school song, but you're absolutely right. Also, any back to school mix needs "School Days," though I ended up picking the Joan Jett & the Blackhearts version over the Runaways'.

"Popular" is a great song--I remember when it was thought of as a novelty, but Nada Surf has maintained a pretty impressive indie rock career since then.

You don't really hear "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun" much anymore. I still think it's funny, but it's definitely a relic of a more innocent time. There'd be an uproar if it came out today.

The Virgin Suicides opened me up to AIR and I love Sophia Coppola forever for it.

I totally agree with your assessment of Popular. I remember when it came out and thinking that it was going to be the most annoying song in the world in a few months. The song is STILL awesome.
