Langston Hughes

 

Happy birthday, Langston Hughes. Hughes and Ice-T have a few connections, including this passage from Adam Bradley's 2009 book Book of Rhymes: The Poetics of Hip Hop, which compares Hughes' Sylvester’s Dying Bed” with Ice's “6 N the Mornin’.” Ice also performed Hughes’ “Ask Your Mama” in the UK in 2015, to rave reviews.
