Richard and I planned to see Danny Brown this month at a free outdoor show. While Richard ended up not making it, and the show was shut down by the police, I did get him a copy of Brown's excellent latest release, XXX.
"Radio Song" laments the music industry's need for commercial success ("So they say you need a hit, a chart toppin' single/That's why it's called commercial, because you need a jingle") and concludes that to make it as a rapper, he needs a "radio song." This is it, complete with a sung chorus and choir sound effects.
This song makes me laugh more every time I hear it. I hope it gets played on Hot 97.
